ABU DHABI, UAE – Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC) has awarded contracts worth $1.6 billion for what it claims will be the world’s largest continuous 3D offshore and onshore seismic survey. This will cover an area up to 53,000 sq km (20,463 sq mi), as the company seeks to identify new opportunities and maximize value from its hydrocarbon resources and fulfil its 2030 ‘smart growth’ strategy. BGP, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Co. (CNPC), will acquire up to 30,000 sq km (11,583 sq mi) offshore and 23,000 sq km (8,880 sq mi) onshore. HOUSTON – Fairfield Geotechnologies and Ikon Science have formally signed a joint venture agreement to offer complete geoprediction services to the oil and gas industry in North America. The EAGE 2018,  80th annual Conference & Exhibition has been hosted in the Bella Center, Copenhagen's on 11-14TH JUNE 2018 This is the largest and most comprehensive multi-disciplinary geoscience event in the world. The event includes a large conference – in total over 1,000 technical oral and e-Poster presentations – and a technical exhibition presenting the latest developments in geophysics, geology and reservoir/petroleum engineering. More than 6,000 people from almost 100 different countries visit this event annually, with the top companies in geoscience and engineering, as well as innovative new players in the field, exhibiting their latest technology, products and services.

This month ION Geophysical Corp. is expected to start a 2D multi-client seismic acquisition program in the Grand Banks offshore Newfoundland. In the first phase of GrandSPAN, ION will acquire about 10,000 km (6,214 mi) of data with an expectation to sanction a second phase of about 5,000 km (3,107 mi) of data farther south in 2019. The industry-supported program is designed to investigate the architecture, evaluate the petroleum potential of proven basins, and understand the geologic differences between producing and non-producing areas. GrandSPAN will integrate with two other ION BasinSPAN programs in the area, providing a contiguous regional seismic data set of more than 20,000 km (12,427 mi) offshore northeast Canada.
