Cables & Accessories Seismic instruments There are seven cables which may be used in the Seismic Instruments Data Acquisition Systems. 1. Line Cable In the 2D and 3D Real Time Data Acquisition Systems, line cables are used between SLIMs, BBUs and the CRU for control, data transmission and power. 2. Line Cable 1 meter - Jumper Cable Short jumper cables may be needed when placing a BBU in the real-time telemetry line. When used, they are placed between the BBU and the adjacent HSLIM. 3. BBU Power Cable The BBU power cable is used for the CRU and the BBU. The loose ends should be connected to a 12 V power source with red to positive and black to negative. 4. HSLIM Power Cable The HSLIM power cable is used…

Battery Booster Unit (BBU)

Battery Booster Unit (BBU)

Production, Seismic instruments
Battery Booster Unit (BBU) Seismic instruments The primary function of the BBU is to convert the 12 V battery power to the 48 V line power. The BBU sends battery voltage and unit temperature information to the Operator Console. The two battery connectors on the BBU allow the hot swapping of batteries without powering down the line. To hot swap, plug in a second battery, wait five seconds and remove the original battery. The BBU contains an integrated line repeater circuit. This circuit allows the use of two line cables between HSLIMs. So the possible distance between the HSLIMs is doubled. The repeater draws power from the 48 V line voltage. Functions: Converts battery voltage from 12 V to 48 V Powers one line cable segment (up to 4 HSLIMs)…

Smart Geophone® (SMG)

Smart Geophone® (SMG)

Production, Seismic instruments
Smart Geophone® (SMG) Seismic instruments The SMG is the basic element of our cabled and the cable-free Seismic Data Acquisition Systems.Seismic Instruments developed this unit for single-sensor-based telemetry operation to record high fidelity seismic data.SI’s unique Smart Geophone (SMG) outputs a digital signal directly from each sensor. The unit incorporates signal conditioning and digitizing, tester electronics and a geophone in a compact package, in which each sensor is recorded on an individual data channel.Multiple SMG sensors are wired together to form an SMG String. An SMG string consists of four basic components:A string connector which plugs into a Hybrid Smart Line Interface Module (HSLIM).SMGsCable segments which run between SMGs.A string terminator which is located at the end of the string. The number of SMGs in the digital string is user definable. Thanks…

U•Node

Production, Seismic instruments
U•Node Seismic instruments The UNode-64 is the central field unit of SI's new seismic acquisition system. It provides power, control, telemetry, time synchronization and data storage for a single SMG or SDA string. The UNode-64 provides hot swap and smart battery discharge functionalities in order to facilitate the battery replacement during a survey. It also includes power supplies for the SMG or SDA string and a Power Over Ethernet (PoE) port for peripherals. A GPS module performs time synchronization for data recording of distributed sensors. The main system clock is continuously GPS synchronized in order to minimize timing errors.Data collected from the sensors are stored locally in an internal memory. When the Wi-Fi radio (URM-2.4G-Ox) module is connected to the PoE port, the UNode sends real time Quality Control data, and…
